- Chapter 343 - You should go back to the common room, Gray
“yes.”
Wade said as he walked in, closed the door behind his back, and then took out the potion he had just brewed.
“Professor, I have some questions about potions that I would like to ask you.”
Looking at the potion that had just been brewed, Snape softened his tone a lot and said:
“I hope you can have a better sense of time next time instead of acting like a stupid lion and doing whatever you think of immediately – what do you want to ask?”
“That’s right, Professor – I heard that in Potions class today, you only put a few drops of the potion to restore the shrunken toad to its original shape. I also survived the shrinking potion, but other potions didn’t do this. Immediate results.”
Wade put the medicine bottle on the table and said, “I guess the professor you used is an age-increasing drug, but how did you make it work without taking it?”
When it comes to his own field of expertise, Professor Snape’s attitude is even more affable.
He first took the potion from Wade’s hand, shook it gently, examined it carefully, smelled it again, and then put it down.
“It can be seen that you followed every step – although it is standard, it is as monotonous as a Muggle assembly line machine. I hope you are not stupid enough to put your own brain in it.”
Snape raised his lips and commented not tactfully.
Facing other students, Snape’s classroom has been emphasizing that potions must be very precise and strict; but when criticizing Vader, he thought Vader was too disciplined.
Wade lowered his head and thought for two seconds to suppress the corners of his mouth that were about to curl up.
As soon as he heard Professor Snape use “assembly line machine” to describe it, he knew that Professor Snape had been watching TV a lot during this period, and might have even watched some programs several times, so he blurted out the metaphor.
The most impressive “assembly line machine” in recent times is probably from a Muggle comedy silent film.
With Wade thinking this way, he felt a little more certain about the purpose of his trip.
If Professor Snape was really devastated by Lily’s death and completely uninterested in the outside world, then his heart would be like an Antarctic ice wall that would not be broken easily.
But he’s not.
He still has a love and pursuit of life, just like he also hopes to get the Order of Merlin.
Professor Snape turned around and took out a similar bottle of potion from his cabinet, passed it forward and said, “Look at this.”
Wade took it and tested it in the same way. After thinking for a while, he said uncertainly: “Evening primrose?”
“Yes, when boiling, add one-third of an ounce of evening primrose seeds and a small spoonful of epiphyllum root powder to achieve the desired effect.”
“But professor, how do you control the dose?” Wade asked again: “It must be just right to restore it to its original state, not too old or too young.”
“The medicine is calculated based on weight and magic power. This medicine also needs to consider an additional issue, which is the interval between the two magic medicines…”
Professor Snape spoke carefully, and Vader listened and took notes.
For him, potion is a course where there is no shortcut. The medicinal properties of each material, the quantity and timing of use must be kept in mind, and then through repeated practice, a satisfactory effect can be obtained.
To become a Potions Master like Snape, besides hard work and money, talent is the most important thing.
In this regard, Wade does not have such high requirements for himself. After all, human energy is limited. When he spent a lot of time on spells and alchemy, he naturally practiced less potions.
But even so, Vader was a rare good student in Snape’s eyes. Teaching him gave people a sense of accomplishment and made him want to talk more.
After talking about potions, Snape looked at the time again.
Seeing that he seemed to be chasing people away, Wade hurriedly said: “I have another question – Professor, I heard that you are also very good at Defense Against the Dark Arts?”
It is well known that Snape applied to become the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, but unfortunately Dumbledore never agreed.
Hearing this, Snape asked: “Of course – you don’t understand the content in Defense Against the Dark Arts class?”
“I don’t have any problem with what was taught in class. I just want to ask – is it possible to cure the particularly serious injuries caused by black magic?” Wade said.
Snape frowned and said, “It depends on what kind of spell it is… and how serious it is. The victim’s own magic power and will are also important… What kind of black magic are you talking about?”
Vader: “What about… uh… a mental breakdown caused by the Cruciatus Curse?”
Snape was silent for a while before saying, “Why do you want to ask this?”
As if he had never heard that Snape disliked Neville, Vader said frankly and slightly distressed:
“While practicing magic tonight, Neville accidentally broke a target. He tried to repair it but failed.”
“We all thought it was just a piece of wood and we could just throw it away and replace it with a new one, but Neville kept trying and trying…”
“Then I guessed that he might be thinking of his parents – I heard that the Longbottoms were tortured by the Cruciatus Curse because they resisted Voldemort, which led to a mental breakdown and had to spend the rest of their lives in St. Mungo’s Hospital.”
“Neville – ugh – Neville looked really miserable. So I was wondering if there was any way I could help him…”
“Sometimes I still think about which one is more painful, never having it or having it and then losing it.”
Vader made no attempt to persuade Snape directly to be nice to Neville.
He himself was just a student who was valued by the teacher, and he often received advice and help from Professor Snape. It would be a bit ungrateful to accuse him of his attitude towards another student face to face.
What’s more, even Dumbledore couldn’t make Snape change his attitude towards Harry. Even if Vader persuaded him a few words, how could he make him change?
Snape is not a saint who listens to advice and is compassionate. He is a paranoid personality who never forgets love and hate and persists throughout his life. Although he was willing to sacrifice his life to kill Voldemort, he was actually indifferent to most people.
When Snape took advantage of his superior status to bully Neville, he felt his own pleasure, but could not feel Neville’s pain at the same time.
Or maybe he knows, but he doesn’t care.
What Vader had to do was to pull him out of that state of isolation and indifference, and passively think from Vader’s perspective.
If he could temporarily put aside his anger and disgust, he would realize that his actions had caused great harm to Neville, but they were also victims of Voldemort’s reign of terror.
If Snape’s moral value was higher, he would have thought that he himself had an unshirkable responsibility in the whole thing, and it would really be unreasonable to blame Neville.
The office was quiet for a long time. Wade didn’t know what Snape was thinking, but he just looked calmly into those deep and empty eyes.
Vader’s Occlumency is now very good, and he is not afraid of looking at people – of course, Professor Snape is not rude enough to randomly pick the brains of students.
Only after a long silence, he said in a slightly hoarse voice: “If the Longbottoms can be cured, they won’t have to live in St. Mungo’s forever.”
“It’s time for you to go back to the lounge, Gray.”
